Every now and then you need new pipes. Preferably, this should be done without flipping the garden upside down, spike up the floor or tear down walls. In this case, pipe renewal can be a good solution, which entails us creating new pipes on the inside of the old ones. Furthermore, pipe renewal is often a much cheaper solution than laying brand new pipes.

Most pipes can be renewed
Most pipe and cable systems can undergo pipe renewal, whether it be bottom pipes, water pipes, wastewater pipes or common wiring.

The pipes are thoroughly checked through pipe inspection
To get inside the pipes, we use the existing access points, for example stake hatches, septic tanks, stake manholes or external manholes. We always start with a preliminary examination, what we call a pipe inspection . Here we gain thorough knowledge about the state of the pipes, hence enabling us to make you a correct price offer.

During pipe inspection, we often find deposits, fat, penetrated roots, damages or fractures. There can be pieces of piping in the pipes or considerable fractures. The original pipe may be in a terrible state and partly crumbled, but the route can still be renewed with a slip lining.

It is important to map the line route and manholes in the area. Trauma, great fractures or offsets in the original route are great challenges connected to pipe renewal of service pipes. The service pipe must undergo additional examinations to determine if it serves other subscribers in the area.

Linings are twisted into place
The new pipe is usually made from epoxy-saturated lining, which is twisted into the old pipe by help of water or compressed air. We only need access to one end of the wiring web to put the soft lining into place. When this is done, the lining is strengthened by a steamer.

The lining we use is either a felt sleeve or a fiberglass sleeve. It is saturated with polyester or epoxy resin. The lining is strengthened with steam on the felt sleeves and UV light on the fiberglass sleeves.

The curing time may last a few hours, depending on the length and dimensions. After a few hours of hot air, it will have become a new, durable pipe without any joints. If there is a branch linked to the piping, we use a special robot to open the link. We can also renew branch pipe connections and branch pipes.

When the strengthening has been completed, the lining is cooled and cut clean in both ends. Then we open the service pipes and control that the new pipe is in order. We do this through yet another finishing pipe inspection with a pipe inspection camera. We record “the entire journey” through the pipe, and this recording is part of the finishing documentation that we deliver to the municipal mapping authority together with proof of warranty and surveying documents.

Advantages of pipe renewal

  • The great advantage of pipe cleaning is that it does not require digging, whether it is performed in private areas with gardens, retaining walls, paved or asphalted squares or under garages built after the pipes were laid down. The same also goes for public streets.
  • Pipe renewal is an effective method, and life can go on as usual in the given local environment. There are no big trucks driving in and out with dirt and rocks, nor are there any excavators in the area.
  • The new pipe will last for at least one generation. The goal is for new pipes to last at least 100 years.
