Grease and waste pipes are a bad combination, and this is why anyone preparing food should install a grease trap, which should be cleaned quite often. This goes for anyone from restaurants, cafes, kiosks, canteens and bakeries, to food shops and petrol stations.

What is a grease trap?
Grease is considered hazardous waste, and strong requirements apply. A grease trap separates grease from water before the water flows on out in the drain. Since grease is lighter than water, it floats to the top in the grease trap and is accumulated there.

A grease trap must therefore be emptied quite often. If not, you risk both smell and grease spills, which again can lead to clogged drains and flooding.

How often should a grease trap be emptied?
Requirements for emptying of grease traps vary between municipalities. Most of the municipalities in the country demand that anyone who has a grease trap maintain a running agreement with an approved provider that regularly empties the grease trap. This is a job we at Norva24 are happy to perform.

How often a grease trap should be emptied depends on size and usage. But all of them should be emptied at least once a year.

If the requirements for emptying of the grease trap are not satisfied, the responsible party risks fines and punishment according to the Pollution Control Act. If you let out water containing fat, which causes damage or added costs to the municipal sewage system, the cost of correction, improvement or repair must be covered by the company.

Efficient equipment
The vehicle used for emptying opens the grease trap and flushes it clean. We can also offer flushing of the pipes going into and out of the grease trap. Grease and dirty flushing water is collected and brought to an approved landfill after the assignment is completed.
